I can see the advantages of taking on the divorce yourself (most obviously the money you have to pay). However the down side to this is that you may get little bits of information wrong so that could go against you in the long wrong. I would always take your advice and hire an attorney, they will make sure you have done everything correctly or they can do it for you. In the long run if your hell bent on saving the money then this taking on the divorce yourself is an option you can do.
If you have finalized taking divorce and have made the decision than you can take the help of divorce mediator who can give you a good advice that can be helpful for you in the future rather than going all alone and filling the attorney. Mediation doesn’t help you in filling the attorney but it will help you top make the settlements which will be beneficial for you in the long term.
